“Dynamic explorer and producer of iron ore”

Polaris Metals is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mineral Resources Limited (MRL).  Since its  aquisition by MRL in 2010, it has grown rapidly from a junior iron ore explorer into a medium-sized iron ore producer.

Polaris' tenements extend over an area of 6,000 square kilometres throughout Western Australia.  Its iron deposits and prospective targets are found within two of WA's premier iron ore provinces, the Yilgarn and Pilbara.

The Yilgarn and Pilbara provinces have long associations with mining and Polaris is proud to continue this tradition of supporting the local communities.

Polaris' Yilgarn Iron Ore Project will contribute an estimated total of $724 million to Gross State Product (GSP) as well as $45 million each year to State Government royalty revenue once fully operational.

The Yilgarn Iron Ore Project will also support direct employment of 496 full-time positions during construction and 430 full-time positions once fully operational.

Polaris has already demonstrated success in the Yilgarn with its Carina mine, located 100 km northeast of Southern Cross.  Iron ore production at the Carina mine recently increased to 5 million tonnes per year, all of which is transported by road then rail to Fremantle Port for export to Asian steel markets.

Carina is just one of several confirmed iron ore deposits within Polaris' Yilgarn tenement holdings.  The company plans to develop other small satellite ore bodies at Carina Extended, Chameleon and Hunt Range as well as three larger deposits at J4, J5 and Bungalbin East.

Carina Extended is fully approved and approvals for the J4 mine are well advanced, with construction expected to commence early in 2015.
